I'm retired from EMS 44Adam in NYC. I worked for St. Johns Queens Hospital Ambulance Department. Other voluntary hospital ambulances in the NYC-EMS 911 system were Booth Memorial, Flushing, Jamaica & Mary Immaculate Hospitals. Elmhurst General & Queens General Hospitals each ran a fleet of NYC ambulances. Both city & voluntary hospital ambulances covered Queens County, NY. We were also helped quite often by the many Volunteer Ambulance Corps that are in Queens. Some VAC's are listed below. These are the only sites that I have at this time. If you know of any other sites, please email me. |
When I started working in 1978, NYCEMS wore the above patch. NYC EMT's had Blue uniforms,Booth wore White and St Johns worked in Shorts,Tanktops & Sandels.Around '79 or '80 we all went to Green. NYC-MVOs stayed with Blue,EMTs went all Green & Medics Had Green pants-White shirts. Later everyone wore White shirts & Green pants. When I retired, they were getting Black coats. Now they wear Fidnee colors. |
